What are the habitat and conservation efforts for red pandas?

Where in the wild do red pandas live?
Most red pandas live in the wild, namely, in the Eastern Himalayas, which include parts of China, Nepal, Bhutan, India, and Myanmar. The preferred habitat for red pandas is high forests of coniferous and temperate broadleaf forests, especially such spots where bamboo meets rivers at steep slopes.

What is the current wild red panda population?
Speaking of their status, red pandas are endangered. The estimated number of mature individuals, who are still living in the wild, varies from 2,500 to 10,000, meaning that they are likely to be fewer than 10,000. Conservation of their habitat and prevention of deforestation, as well as poaching, are the central issues at the moment.
